ON

Our team purchased a RED V Raptor X and wanted to put it through it's paces. Our founder, Mitchell Thayne, also had recently fallen in love with running. Thus, shooting a running spec piece for ON became a must.

The concept and ideation was a back and forth battle. Do we make a hyper exciting piece focused strictly on visuals and impressive editing? Or do we slow it down and do something that is narrative and assigns more meaning? We went with the latter. The concept evolved to hearing a woman leaving a voicemail to her dad, this voicemail highlights her struggles with mental health and the difficulty she experienced when attempting to train. The piece eventually concludes with her feeling resolve to prep for and then finish her race: not only for her but her father (who it was revealed had passed away a few weeks before).

The post production process came together smoothly. Finding the song, getting a VO and then pulling things together felt seamless. With support from @jvke (Jake Pierrelee) as a colorist we really were able to arrive on the tone and feeling we were looking for. Sound design was a huge part of this process as well and made all the difference.
